HELP US FIND IMPORTANT Stories

At HUDSY, we bring your story to life. Our full-scale diverse team is available to work with individuals and organizations to craft films and videos that authentically capture the essence of your community, program, organization, or brand—infused with our unique HUDSY perspective.

At the core of HUDSY’s mission is to bring people together through the power of film and storytelling. We pride ourselves on telling stories that may get lost in the shuffle, or don’t always get the attention they deserve.

For 2026, we want to invite YOU to submit an idea for a short documentary about an individual, group or organization that creates real impact in the Hudson Valley (and beyond) and deserves to have their story be shared.

In this paid, part-time apprenticeship (5-10 hours per week from April through October) you’ll work alongside HUDSY’s in-house production crew to help tell the stories of the people of the Hudson Valley through short form non-fiction storytelling. You’ll learn to use our professional-grade equipment and receive support and advice from volunteer mentors with decades of experience in the film industry.

The goal of the program is to empower your voice as a filmmaker and community storyteller, while elevating your skills and expanding your network making it more likely for you to get hired and successfully build a career in the industry.

In addition to hands-on production experience, you’ll benefit from skill-building workshops, creative networking events, and perhaps most importantly, you’ll develop strong working relationships with your fellow apprentices and mentors, creating a professional community that extends well beyond the program.

For 2026, the program will be working exclusively on non-fiction documentary films. If you are only interested in scripted narratives, this apprenticeship may not be for you. That being said, most production and storytelling skills are universal and learning how to make documentaries will make you a better filmmaker overall.

HUDSY is committed to supporting filmmakers from traditionally marginalized communities as well as aspiring filmmakers of all ages 18 and up.

If you’re serious about making films and ready to commit to elevating your craft, apply today!

The deadline to submit this application is Sunday, February 1, 2026
